- Bio: Funeral services for Kenneth Mortenson, 72, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton with the Rev. F. Philip Strain officiating. Burial was in the Homer Cemetery at Pierpont under the direction of the Paetznick-Garness Funeral Home of Groton.
- Honorary casketbearers were Roy Mielke, Bill Gallaugher, Joe Vik, Francis Norris, Jake Jacobson, Morris Jacobson, Percy Mjolsness and Sherman Cavanaugh.
- Active casketbearers were Jim Mortenson, Mike Mortenson, Clint Mortenson, Nick Mortenson, Tom Mortenson, Clayton Kent Farmen and LeRoy Farmen.
- Organist was Mrs. John Gibbs. The congregation sang, "How Great Thou Art", "Rock of Ages" and "This Is My Fathers's World".
- Mr. Mortenson died Sunday, Aug. 1, at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
- He was born July 10, 1910, in Pierpont. He was married to Lillian Langager July 11, 1936, in Sisseton. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, East River Ropers Club of Groton and the Silver Spur Saddle Club of Pierpont. He was a resident until 1959 when he moved to Groton.
- Survivors include his widow, Groton; one son, Carlyle, Groton; two daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Martha) Farmen, Groton; and Mrs. Alan (Marjorie) Wik, Putney; one sister, Mrs. Renae Olson, Sisseton; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
- He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, one stepsister and three stepbrothers.
