- Bio: The Huronite & The Daily Plainsman, Huron, S.D.Thur. Jul 31 1958 Pg 2 Herbert Marshall, Hitchcock, died Wednesday afternoon in St. John's Hospital at the age of 79 following a brief illnes. He was born Jan. 3, 1879 in Imlay City, Mich., the son of Marland J and Ellen Marshall. They moved to the Hitchcock vicinity in 1889 and have resided there since. At the time of his death he was engaged in farming. Survivors include his widow, Mary, Hitchcock; six sons, Carl, Hitchcock; Clyde, Denver, Colo.; Lester, Redfield; Lyle, Bonilla; Glen, Bonilla; Keith, Denver; seven daughters, Mrs. Vera Woodard, Spearfish; Ellen, Mrs.Mike LeGrand, Hitchcock; Reva, Mrs. William Maher, Pierre; Norma, Mrs. Ray Maher, Athol; Jessie, Mrs. Cecil Hoack, Wolsey; Marie, Mrs. George Hart, Huron; Lenore, Mrs. Russell Schamp, Huron; 38 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Dippery, Pine City, Minn.; Mrs. Jane Lane, Hastings. Neb. He was preceded in death by one son Lawrence in 1938 and two brothers, Jake in 1946 and Vern in 1906. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church of Hitchcock. The Rev. James Patten officated. Burial was in Altoona Cemetery.
