- Bio: Arnold Domke, age 74, of Huron, died Friday, November 18, 2011, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 22nd, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 23rd in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
- Arnold Domke was born February 11, 1937, in Cumberland, Wisconsin, to Edward and Amelia (Arndt) Domke. He graduated from high school in Hutchinson, Minnesota and earned a Bachelor's degree from Augustana College. On June 1, 1958, he married Joan Jacobson at the American Lutheran Church in Huron.
- After graduation from college, Arnold was employed at banks in Parkston and Spearfish before moving to Huron to work for the South Dakota Bank Examiners for a number of years. After a return to banking in Canistota for several years they moved to Wessington where he purchased the bank and eventually expanded it to include locations in Tulare, Highmore and Redfield. Arnold was a past president of the South Dakota Independent Bankers and a member of the Wessington Presbyterian Church and the Lions Club.
- A devoted Packers fan, Arnold also enjoyed traveling, golf, fishing, time at the family cabin at the lake, and especially time with kids and grandkids. Holidays with family was always a very special time for him.
- He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Domke; two sisters, Judith Domke and Irene Speerstra; his parents-in-law, Olaf and Ruth Jacobson; and two brothers-in-law, Phil Kolbe and Seth Speerstra.
- Grateful to have shared in his life are his wife, Joan of Huron; four children, Rodney (Crystal) Domke of Highmore, Naomi (Jeff) Reinhardt of Wessington, Paul Domke of Tulare and Scott (Shelli) Domke of Tulare; 15 grandchildren, Matthew, Alyssa, Mariah and Elora Domke, Brandon and Brittany Reinhardt, Lucas (Courtney), Tyler (Ashley) and Hannah Voorhees, Sam and Cami Domke, Ashley and Josh Bonebright, and Sean and Seth Domke; a brother, David (Martha) Domke of Marlborough, Massachusetts; a sister, Ruth Kolbe of Hutchinson, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Dr. Arland (Willy) Jacobson of Moorhead, Minnesota; and a foreign exchange student "son", Asbjorn Myrvag of Norway.
