- Bio: Clifford Clovning, 93 of Winona, formerly of Henning, died Wednesday May 9, 2007, at the Lake Winona Manor.
- Clifford Joseph Clovning was born in Hurley, S.D., on Aug. 21, 1913, the son of Osmond and Johanna (Lund) Clovning. He moved to Minnesota, near the Vining area, as a young man where he farmed with his mother and older brother.
- He married Mildred Gunderson in the Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Clitherall, on Aug. 24, 1946.
Clifford and Mildred farmed in the Vining and Henning areas until the 1950's when they moved into the town of Henning where he worked for Steuart Plumbing and Heating and Volden Construction.
Clifford was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher as well as serving as a deacon on the cemetery board for many years. He was a member of the Sons of Norway and made two trips Norway after his retirement.
He enjoyed his flower gardening and after Mildred's death in 1979, he enjoyed cooking for himself, friends and family. He enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren. Clifford lived in his own home until 90 years of age, at which time he moved to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
- Clifford is survived by his children: Jerome Clovning, Bloomington, Clarice (David) Jorgensen, Buffalo; and Mary (Larry) Gutknecht of Rushford; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
- He is preceded in death by his wife: Mildred, daughter: Marge Salo, and 10 brothers and sisters.
- Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning
- Clergy: Rev. Darrell Vetter
- Burial: Good Shepherd Cemetery, Henning
- Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
