- Bio: Hazel Clarice Christianson was born on June 22, 1922 in Vining, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Herbert Calmer and Clara Theoline (Sandahl) Christianson. Hazel grew up in Vining, Minnesota and graduated from the Henning High School with the class of 1940. Hazel was employed as a domestic helper for a family in Vining. On June 15, 1941 Hazel was united in marriage with Arlow Skjegstad. They made their home in Vining and then Almora, Minnesota. They were married for 25 years and their marriage was blessed with 6 children. They owned and operated Rainbow Camp on East Battle Lake for 5 years.
- On July 8, 1978 Hazel was married to Marvin Alverdo Trosdahl at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning, Minnesota. Hazel was employed as a cook and baker at the Henning School. She also enjoyed being a Tupperware Dealer and Brothers Keeper, PCA. Marvin passed away on June 20, 2010. Hazel resided at Willow Creek Assisted Living and St. Williams Living Center for a short time before making her home at the Good Samaritan Society in Battle Lake.
- Hazel enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, crocheting, music, lake living, church circle, home makers, and bowling. She and Marvin loved camping, dancing, road trips to visit family and especially spending time with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. Hazel always enjoyed watching and attending football and basketball games, and in her later years she was an avid Vikings fan.
- On December 11, 2013 Hazel passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society at 91 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
- Preceding Hazel in death were her parents; husband, Marvin; an infant son;3 brothers; 3 sisters; 1 son-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; an infant grandson; and 2 infant great-grandsons.
- Hazel is survived by her children: Judy (Richard) Eckhoff; JoAnn Shaw; Virginia (Donald) Meyer; Jack (Diane) Skjegstad and Wendy (Gary) Rockswold; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 sisters: Myrtle (Walt) Halvorson; Ethel Menze and Bernice (Franny) Mohs; 2 brothers: Helmer Christianson and Charles (Ardyce) Christianson; many other relatives and a host of friends.
