- Vernon G. (Vern) Chamley
- Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 27 at 11 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church for Vernon G. Chamley, 63, who died Saturday at the Flandreau hospital. The Rev. L.J. Inglebret officiated at the service.
- Mr. Chamley was born on a farm near Egan on March 12, 1910. He received his education in rural Moody County schools and then worked on road construction throughout South Dakota. He was married in November 5, 1938 in Sioux Falls to Pearl Moe. He then started working for the Moody County Hwy., Department. In 1947, he began working with the Flandreau Street Department and worked there until ill health forced his retirement in February 1969.
- He was a member of the Lutheran Church in the Flandreau fire department.
- He is survived by his wife, his mother Mrs. Clara Chamley, two sons, Bruce, Sioux Falls and Brad, Myrtle Grove, Florida, two brothers, Clifford, Flandreau and Charles, Lebanon, N.H.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Bidne, Flandreau and Mrs. Louise Malotte, Anaheim, California.
- He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
- Pallbearers were Melvin Stimson, Deral Duncan, Ed Kneebone, Lester Herrick, Francis Alberts and Charles Meeker.
- Interment was in the Flandreau Cemetery.
