Joseph C. Blazek, Former Resident, Died Monday
Joseph Charles Blazek, 46, resident of the Big Sandy section for many years, died at his Glasgow home Monday of a heart attack.
Mr. Blazek was born in Iowa but moved to the Hopp section as an infant when his parents came to this county to homestead. He attended school in that section and the Northern Montana College in Havre. In 1957 he moved to Glasgow, purchasing the Glasgow Livestock Sales Yard. The first president of the Montana Beef Council.
Survivors include his wife, Imelia; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Webster, Havre; two sons, Gary Blazek, Havre, and James Blazek, Glasgow; a brother, Edward Blazek; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Blazek, Big Sandy; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon in Glasgow with interment Friday in Big Sandy Cemetery.

- Joseph Charles Blazek, 46, passed away at his home in Glasgow Monday, July 20. Services were held at the Lutheran Church in Glasgow Thursday, July 23rd. He lay in state in the Lutheran Church in Big Sandy Friday. A short service was held here before interment in the Big Sandy cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lester Rutledge, Joe Pokorny, Joe Fisher, Odin Blockhus, Lloyd Marty and Sig Dyrland.
Joseph Charles Blazek was born in Kanawha, Iowa, May 15, 1913 and came to Big Sandy when is parents homesteaded here in 1914.
He grew to manhood here, graduating from Big Sandy High School in 1931 and later attended Northern Montana College in Havre.
During his high school years he worked for Chauvets where he learned the butcher trade. He then worked in Havre as a butcher for Rainbow Meat Market and began buying livestock. After that he became an order buyer, representing local and eastern packing houses, then for two years was representative and order buyer for Fry Packing Co. of Seattle in Montana and Idaho.
In 1951 he took over management of the Glasgow Livestock Sales Co., which he later purchased and was operating at the time of his death.
He became very interested in the promotion and sale of beef and was twice president of the Montana Beef Council. In April he was elected to the National Beef Council as Area Director for the western division.
It was his firm conviction that our Montana beef was superior meat that should be advertised and sold to the consuming public.
He leaves to mourn his untimely passing, his wife Imelia of Glasgow; a daughter, Joan Webster of Havre; two sons James of Glasgow and Gary of Havre; his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Blazek of Big Sandy; a brother Edward of Big Sandy and two grandchildren. A son, Robert, preceded him in death in 1954.
Joe was a tireless worker, set a goal for himself and then achieved that goal. He was blessed with a magnetic personality, everyone he met became his friend because he loved people and made a special effort to meet each one at their own level. He was never without a smile or cheery word and will be sorely missed by his family, relatives and friends.
