- From The Medford Mail Tribune, 08/12/2012:
- Lee Wickre passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at his home in Central Point, Ore., at the age of 80. His family would like to, with deep appreciation, thank Providence Hospice for the compassionate care they gave our beloved husband, father and grandfather during his time of illness.
- He was born August 31, 1931, in Webster, S. D., the first born son of Julius and Gladys Wickre. He was raised in Grays Harbor County, Wash. and graduated from Hoquiam High School. In 1950 he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. On June 9, 1951 in Hoquiam, while at home on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Evans. The couple lived in San Diego until 1954 then moved to Downey, Calif., where their daughter Patti was born.
- In 1972, the family moved to Central Point. While living in California and in Oregon, Lee worked in the electrical supply business, retiring in 1993 from North Coast Electric Company.
- Lee enjoyed time spent with family, gardening, and sports. He also enjoyed and had a knack for fixing things, often being called upon by family members when they were in need of advice or help regarding home repairs. Lee was well known for his sense of humor and through the years provided both his family and his friends with lots of laughs and lighthearted moments. He was loving and devoted to his family and will be deeply missed.
- He leaves behind his wife, Margie, of 61 years; daughter, Patti Pendergast and son-in-law, Ken, of Medford; granddaughters, Jennifer Pendergast, of Hayward, Calif. and Sarah Pendergast, of Mill Creek, Wash.; and brother, Ray Wickre, of Ilwaco, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Irwin.
