  Noteringar	Bio: Gary R. Thorson, 75, of Wakonda passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. Gary Richard Thorson was born May 24, 1939 in Volin, SD to Carl and Christina (Fischer) Thorson. He grew up in the Volin area and graduated from Volin High School in 1957. Following high school, he joined the Army, serving in Germany as a truck driver. He married Virginia Smith in 1968 and the couple resided in Volin. Gary worked on harvesting crews and later at the Volin Farmers Elevator as assistant manager and also did security work for ALCOA in Yankton until his retirement. He had been a resident of Wakonda Heritage Manor for many years. Gary enjoyed growing vegetables, fishing, camping, feeding wild birds and he loved cats and dogs. He also loved watching the Cleveland Indians Baseball and Cleveland Browns Softball. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Virginia. Survivors include his step-daughter Colleen Smith of Wakonda, a sister Ruth (Jim) Adams of Hartington, one brother Gordon Thorson of Yankton and several nieces and nephews.
